Vieques Conservation & Historical Trust (VCHT)

Community nonprofit on El Malecón in Esperanza dedicated to the conservation and documentation of Vieques' natural and cultural heritage. The museum features exhibits on bioluminescent bay ecology, pre-ceramic and Taíno artifacts (3,000 BCE–1492 AD), marine life and local ecology, and the environmental impact of the U.S. Navy's decades of occupation. Includes a small aquarium showcasing local marine species. Free admission; donations encouraged. The VCHT also operates educational programs for schools and community groups and publishes research on Vieques' history and environment.
